Alger County VINE Participation History
Michigan hosts an official MI-VINE page with free, round-the-clock, confidential custody and court-status access. Alerts can cover release, transfer, escape, and case changes. You can search anonymously. Registering, though, stores your phone or email so alerts reach you.
An official MDOC Family Information Packet from 2013 offers the strongest county-level evidence. It names VPA – Alger County among participating jails. The same list gives the Alger County Jail, its Munising address, and the Sheriff's phone. That proves participation once existed. It does not promise today's integration works the same way. Verify coverage in the live VINELink search and with the jail.
Run Alger County VINELink Check
Labels and filters in the live interface shift over time. Have enough identifying detail ready first. Common names return many matches. Michigan's current materials say a basic search needs no account.
- Open VINELink and choose Michigan.
- Select Alger County if the current interface offers a county filter.
- Enter the person’s name or an available offender or case identifier.
- Compare all displayed identity details before relying on a match.
- Review custody status, facility, and supported event data, then confirm uncertain or urgent information with the holding agency.
A blank result means several things. The person may not be loaded yet, may already be released, or may sit outside the participating feed in another custody system. A name spelled differently can hide a match too. Take the result only for what it plainly says.
Alger County VINELink Result Fields
Michigan treats VINELink as a status tool, so not every Alger County record shows every field. The table splits what the service typically provides from what lives elsewhere.
| Information | Meaning and limit |
|---|---|
| Identity details | Used to distinguish matches; compare more than a name. |
| Custody status | A current system status, not a complete arrest history. |
| Facility | Where the source reports the person held or transferred. |
| Status event | May include release, transfer, escape, or court change. |
| Offender or case identifier | Useful for confirmation when the source supplies it. |
| Booking photograph | Not promised by Michigan MI-VINE materials. |
| Final disposition | Must be checked in the official court record. |
Alger County publishes no verified public jail roster. So VINELink is not that roster. It is not MDOC OTIS either. OTIS holds prisoners, parolees, probationers, and the recently discharged under its own rules. Someone held pretrial in the county jail may never appear there.
Official Alger County VINE Interfaces
The state page explains the MI-VINE program. VINELink itself runs the live search and registration. Neither one works as an Alger booking-photo feed. Open the VINELink search interface.
The VINELink interface exists for individual status checks, not for browsing arrested people. See the Michigan MI-VINE program page for service details.
Read the state source for alert options. Check the live result for current details.
Register for Alger County Alerts
Found the right person? Pick that record's notification option. Michigan lists phone, email, text, TTY, online, and app channels. Events vary by source, so read the choices shown during enrollment.
- Select notification registration from the matched VINELink record, or call (800) 770-7657.
- Choose the available phone, email, or text method and enter accurate contact details.
- Create a four-digit PIN for phone registration. State guidance says email and text registration do not require that PIN.
- Select the supported custody or court events and complete the confirmation prompts.
- Update contact information online or by phone if it changes. TTY access is listed at (866) 847-1298.
Custody changes at any hour. A call can come overnight. Keep the PIN private but reachable. Do not trust caller ID alone or share sensitive details with an unexpected caller. Remember that registration sends notice; it is not a protective order or a safety plan.
Confirm Alger County Custody
After a fresh Alger County arrest, call the Sheriff at (906) 387-4444. Do that when the live result is missing or murky. The office operates around the clock. Not every records request gets handled at all hours. A custody question is one task. A formal records request is another.
The county posts no online roster, same-day feed, or booking app. The Alger County Arrests Last 24 Hours page lays out the immediate fallback order. For the booking card or photograph itself, file an Alger County FOIA request. Name the person, the date range, and the record. View the official Alger County Sheriff page for local confirmation.
This official county source supplies the local contact path when VINELink needs confirmation.
Alger County VINELink Boundaries
MI-VINE stops at state lines in one sense: it is not a federal locator. Immigration detention runs through the separate DHS-VINE system and the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Federal prison custody belongs to the Bureau of Prisons locator. A BOP search finds federal inmates. It does not return Alger County bookings.
Custody can move to a Michigan state prison. Then MDOC OTIS holds the current supervision record. Alger Correctional Facility, an MDOC prison in Munising, is separate from the Alger County Jail entirely. Someone at the state prison may show in OTIS. The original county intake can still read as stale. Crime Victim Services runs its own state-prison notification channels.
- Booking
- The jail intake process after an arrest.
- Transfer
- A move from one holding agency or facility to another.
- Release
- An end to the reported custody event, not necessarily the end of a court case.
- Disposition
- The court’s later outcome, which is not decided by VINELink.
Alger County Arrest Alert Accuracy
A VINELink match reports a status at one moment. Compare the initial event with MiCOURT and the official court file before describing any outcome.
Alerts can also lag or fail. Source updates, phone problems, filters, or changed contact details all play a part. Never lean on one alert for immediate safety. Michigan's materials tell anyone in danger to call 911. A court, victim advocate, or law-enforcement agency can address case-specific protection.
When Alger County VINELink Misses
Spelling comes first. A name typed casually may not match the legal or committed name in the system. Drop optional filters that screen out the correct record. Search by offender or case number instead, and never pick a same-name match just because the county looks right. Facility, age, and other displayed details should fit what you already know.
Custody stage matters next. Someone arrested minutes ago may sit in transport before any VINE event posts. A fast release can drop a person from the current list. MDOC time belongs in OTIS. Federal custody belongs in the BOP locator. Immigration detention runs through ICE tools and DHS-VINE. These systems never merge into one arrest history.
Call Alger County Jail and identify the person carefully. For a durable record, submit a date-bounded county request for booking and release material. MiCOURT helps only once a case is filed, and nonpublic cases or timing gaps can leave no online result.
Manage Alger County VINE Notifications
Review registrations whenever a phone number, email address, or safety plan changes. Michigan lets you update contact details online or by phone. Pick more than one delivery method when reliable notice matters. Test voicemail, spam filters, and blocked-call settings first. Phone users need that four-digit PIN.
An alert reports a source-system event. It won't explain release conditions or confirm a hearing. A transfer may mean a move to another jail, not freedom. Release can happen while the case stays open. Read the event label closely and confirm big facts with the named facility or court staff.
